Description
This digital work is based on a photograph I took of Rosie the Roseate Spoonbill. (I took the photo so I named her) I had never seen these gorgeous birds before finding her at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve in St Petersburg Florida. I understand that her color gets more and more brilliant as she reaches mating season and this was taken in early March as she was most likely nesting. She was feeding along with her friends, a great white egret, a white ibis, a green heron and an alligator. Watching her feed by swaying her spoon-shaped beak through the water was fascinating to me! I hope you will invite her into your home - she would love to know you!
