Description
During a recent trip to Wakodahatchee Wetlands in Delray Beach, Florida in March 2022, one of the birds high on my list to find and photograph was a wood stork. Until March I had never seen one of these birds before and even with a couple of photos in my mind, I was still shocked to see what these birds look like. Their necks look like old branches so from the neck up they're not the prettiest birds but so so unique. They nest above water to prevent predators such as raccoons from feeding on their eggs and young. A group of storks has many collective nouns, including "a clatter of storks", "a filth of storks", "a muster of storks", "a phalanx of storks", and a "swoop of storks."
